Tokyo Destination Consultant

Canadian
Gerry has lived in Japan for over ten years. He spent the bulk of his career in finance. After a long period as managing director of a Canadian banking group in Tokyo, he decided to remain in Japan. Since then, he has acted as a consultant giving start-up assistance to many companies setting up operations in Japan.
Gerry has no regrets about exchanging the open spaces of Canada for the crowded bustle of Tokyo. ‘Surprisingly, I live just as active a life,’ he says. ‘I enjoy hiking, cycling, scuba diving and travelling. Japan offers just as many opportunities for the outdoor life as North America.’
His long residence has made him an expert at negotiating the intricacies and etiquette of the Japanese. ‘It really can be daunting to move here, and the executive must be prepared to adapt quickly. Knowing where to live and how to find housing is a priority, but it’s just as vital to have contact with people who understand Japan and the Japanese.’
Gerry looks forward to sharing the benefit of his long experience.
