Sandra is something of a new-born globetrotter. She is the wife of an experienced expatriate, with postings in China under his belt, but remained at the family home in Britain’s Lake District while her husband was away.
Relocating to Raleigh changed all that, however, and she is now a full adept of both the joys and traumas of relocation.
‘I really did think it was going to be simple,’ she tells us. ‘The people of the US speak the same language. We’ve been watching their films for years! But I found America is a land of people looking to reinvent themselves. Different. Not better. Not worse. Just “different”. The language, the lifestyle, the space and the need for cars without question.’
It took eight years, she tells us, to ‘iron out the creases’ of settling in to such a new place.
She looks forward to opening up her Raleigh to you, allowing you to discover not only the wonderful housing and schools available, but the many practical living and social and sporting options in this burgeoning part of North Carolina.
