Moscow Destination Consultant

Originally from Barcelona,
Marta is something of a linguist. As well as her native Catalan, she is fluent in Spanish and English, advanced in Russian and Polish, and has basic French and German. As well as Russia, she has also lived in the Ukraine, Poland and England; she has taken a Master in Central and East European Studies in Krakow, and gained a Sociology degree in Barcelona.
Professionally, Marta has spent much of her career in the education sector, although she was a quality manager for a large part of the 1990s. She has worked as a lecturer in Holocaust Studies in Moscow, as well as a teacher in sociology and business in English. She is thoroughly familiar with Moscow, where she lives in an entirely Russian neighborhood while her children go to a private Russian school. However, she is also active in the expatriate community and up to date on the rental market and international schools.
Russia is another world entirely for Westerners,’ she tells us. ‘Moscow can seem daunting at first, but with some inside knowledge, it can be surprising how easily a lot of things fall into place. It is also very important to establish quickly a network of friends, as this not only facilitates the settling in process, but also provides a support group for the moments when things aren’t quite going to plan.’
