If you want to know a few things about adjusting quickly to a new country and culture,
Carolyn can probably give you some answers. Over a period of 12 years, she has lived in six countries and gone on working assignments to 11 others.
Carolyn moved to Milan in 2001 and sold advertising space for the English Yellow Pages. She has a wealth of knowledge and resources to tap into for finding the right school, medical services and, most importantly, housing. She is also a member of the American Business Luncheon Committee, which meets once a month for networking and socializing.
Having mastered Italian, she is now well steeped in both expatriate and local life. She was a board member of the Professional Woman’s Association, a networking group of expatriate women, which meets several times a month to form professional and personal relationships. In addition, she says, 'Milan is an excellent transport hub for travel to northern and central Italy and this has enabled me to visit many other fascinating parts of Italy in my spare time.'
Carolyn now enjoys a settled expatriate life, but she is aware of its pitfalls. 'Having had a few teething problems of a practical nature of my own both on arrival and thereafter, I hope to be well equipped to help others with theirs,' she says.
She will be waiting to help on your arrival in Milan.
