Welcome to Calgary.
Calgary is probably best known as a destination for winter sports, and in Canada it is seen as an ecotourism center, being so close to several mountain resorts. However, less well-known is the city’s cosmopolitan composition – one-in-four of its inhabitants are expatriates, and 150 languages are spoken in the city. Because it is important to the petroleum industry, newcomers are constantly arriving and leaving, and the city is constantly expanding. Just a century ago, it had a population of 40,000, now it is nearer 1.1 million. Easy to find homes, good schools, superb infrastructure, and the geniality of Calgarians make this city Canada’s melting pot.
