Meet Colin

YourGuide Destination Consultant

Colin is a long-time expatriate. Born in London, some of his earliest experiences overseas came as a volunteer on a kibbutz in Israel. Israel, in fact, became his first career posting after graduating from Cranfield University in England with an engineering degree. He spent the best part of a decade working there, and gained international experience in Cypress, Portugal, Turkey and the UAE before finally relocating to China in 1998.

Colin now regards China firmly as home. He has worked in several areas of the country over the years, gaining an experience of Mandarin in the process. During this time has built a factory, been the GM of a JV factory and established two new divisions for an international company. ‘I’m surprised by how well I adapted,’ he tells us, ‘but it’s not easy. When you first come you have to deal with the language, noise, energy, sheer volume of people. It’s indispensable to have help during those vital early days of resettlement.’

He prides himself on the professional help he has given expatriates on moving to Asia, and looks forward to welcoming you to Beijing.
